House Oversight Hearing on Economic Stimulus Spending Rep. Edolphus Towns (D-NY) chaired a House Oversight and Government Reform Committee hearing on tracking the use of funds in the 787 billion dollar economic stimulus package. The Government Accountability Office released its first official report on stimulus fund tracking at this hearing.

About the Series

The $787 Billion American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) was signed into law by President Obama on February 17th, 2009. Known as the economic stimulus law, it was passed to jumpstart the U.S. economy as well as to save and create more than 3.5 million jobs over the next two years.

Recovery Progress Report:
As of November 18, $297.1 billion of the $787 billion stimulus has been committed to states; $136.3 billion has been paid out.
